I always hated girls who “blogged” but when you read their posts every 8 months they started off with “wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted! I promise to be better.” But here I am, being that exact girl because, in reality, I haven’t really posted anything since the wedding.
When Kyston and I got engaged I wanted to be really good at documenting all the fun things about being a bride. And I did! I was so good at it and those posts are some of the posts I cherish most! But in the now 7 months that we have been married I have been so bad at it. Life got really busy now being married and on top of it all, I started my own design business – Ink & Press Co. I invested so much time and energy into starting my business so that I could start off strong. But now that my business foundation is set and Kyston and I have settled into more of a routine I want to keep up with documenting life’s happenings. I really do love this little blog of mine and little corner I have built in the internet universe.
With tonight being New Year’s Eve, it has me being all reflective and ish on the past year. And I want to play a quick game of catchup before my annual new year’s mantra post. So after Kyston and I were married in May, we honeymooned in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. When we got back we moved into our new apartment. My favorite memory from that month was the fact that we could not get our mattress delivered to us for 2 weeks. So we slept on the trundle sofa bed in our living room every night! Our apartment was an absolute mess but by the time that July rolled around we had built all our Ikea furniture and settled in. During July my brother Preston married the love of his life, Tasha. They are absolutely perfect together and their wedding was an absolute dream! Come August, Kathy had her beautiful baby Elenoa. Everyone is completely smitten by her. She is such a doll and so loved! We all call her Noa Pie. Later in August, one of my best friends Rachael married her love Cameron in Paris, France! I and the bridesmaids all flew out to Paris for the wedding. And, a few of us traveled to London after the wedding for a little vacation. I have those posts as drafts waiting to be published. I want to share photos from the wedding but her wedding is being featured in a huge wedding publication so I have to wait until after the publish date. But, don’t worry! Those travel posts will be up soon!
Quick mention: we both celebrated our birthdays together in the summer!
Starting the fall season Kyston was back in school at BYU. We had so much fun attending football games together, enjoying the huge oak trees outside our apartment and how gorgeous the leaves were, going on canyon drives, being with our friends, and making new memories as newlyweds. Going into the holiday season was an absolute dream! It has been my favorite holiday season ever because being celebrating it all with Kyston has been so much fun. We celebrated Thanksgiving with Kyston’s family in Las Vegas, had a fabulous Christmas party with our friends, made lots of cookies and hot chocolate, decorated our apartment in cute Christmas decor while listening to Christmas music, saw the lights at temple square, celebrated my best friend’s birthday, and my favorite moment of all… Kyston and I got dressed up all fancy and went to Ballet West’s brand new production of The Nutcracker and then after to The Roof restaurant that overlooks all of Temple Square. This special date night was Kyston’s special Christmas gift to me. I was so giddy all night, Kyston made me feel like a queen!
Christmas break has been incredible, and my favorite Christmas I have ever had. Woody, Preston and their families were all in St. George for Christmas. We had a blast being together on Christmas Eve playing games, high stakes bingo, dressing up and reading the nativity story, watching Christmas movies, and having a wonderful holiday party. Christmas Day was such a joy with little Joshua and Daniel. We opened up presents as a family early in the morning and then enjoyed the day together as a family. On the next day Kyston and I drove to Las Vegas to spend some time with his family and extended family (his cousins flew in from New Zealand!) in Las Vegas before they move to Santa Barbara next month.
So, that brings me all the way up to now. A special little recap of life’s happenings from the past few months. Twenty seventeen has been my absolute favorite year yet. It has been a year filled with such happiness and it honestly makes me so excited to see what twenty eighteen will bring.
But for now, I’m going to cuddle up next to my love and watch the ball drop. Cheers to NYE!
