Berlin was beautiful! This city was our first stop along the way. I loved being introduced to the famous Döner dish – a pita pit filled with lamb meat and a herbal spread. Quite delicious! After dinner we wandered up and down the streets for four hours looking at the the small street markets and shops. That night we spent the night in a hostel. I have never slept in a hostel before but I loved it, I’m a “top-bunk” type of gal. The next morning we visited the Berlin Wall and the Charlie Checkpoint. It is crazy to think that only 25 years ago the wall was torn down. 25 years ago Germany was divided by communism but is now united as a country. When the Berlin Wall was torn down, Germany left two parallel bricks where the wall used to stand. Visiting these sites in person truly brings history to life.
