You only get ten years to be in your twenties.
Ten years to do a million things you can really only do in your twenties. I aspire to take advantage of every opportunity that presents a twenty something.
As a twenty something my dreams are pretty big. I have goals that I have been working towards and want to accomplish. Sometimes I feel like I am in a race to get them all done. That I have to hurry and finish them before the opportunity ceases.
But there is wisdom in doing things in sequence. I have to remind myself of this all the time. I have to slow down, take a deep breath and just embrace it as it comes.
One of my goals has been to participate in a study abroad. Gotta admit, it has been a struggle to make this goal happen. There were so many aspects of life that made it seem impossible at times: the timing, academic classes, relationships, finances, etc. Picking up and leaving overseas just never seemed to work.
But now it has.
And I couldn’t be more ready.
Today I leave for a six week journey through Europe. I will be traveling to Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, France, Italy, England and Iceland. It is going to be a whirlwind of a trip. I hope to document as much of it as possible through photos, videos and this blog. I have been looking forward to this trip for sometime now and departure day has finally arrived. It still seems so surreal.
I’ve been asked countless times if I am excited to go. Oh, you have no idea! In the traveling that I have been able to do I have learned so much about myself and the world around me. Albert Einstein said it best when he stated that the more he learned, the more he realized how little he actually knew. This is how I feel about traveling. The more I travel the more my perspective is broadened; but, I realize more and more how little I actually know about the world and its entirety. I have nothing to lose and everything to gain from this study abroad. I am excited to learn more about the world, other cultures and gain a better understanding of life.
I’m ready to explore other countries, to learn, to better understand, to grow…
There is so much out there, I aim to experience as much of it as possible.
