MOAB! How is it that this is my first time in Moab and Arches National Park!? This place is straight beauty and so picturesque! Kyston wanted to go on a mini trip together and has been dying to go camping. He suggested Moab and I immediately said “let’s go!” Kyston was a champ because he got the whole trip planned and really went out of his way to make it all possible. He collected camping gear, maps, went grocery shopping – the whole shabang! I’m one lucky girl to be dating him!
We left Friday after work and after a few errands finally made it down to Moab around 11PM. We totally lucked out and were able to snag a campsite in the nearest campground to the Arches National Park entrance. We set up our tent in the dark and boy that was an adventure. We had a few lights but they attracted so many bugs! We finally got it all set up and passed out shortly after.
The next morning we made breakfast while listening to music and enjoying the beautiful view! Our campsite was right next to the Colorado River. We had no idea how beautiful it was since we arrived in the dark so waking up the next morning to such beautiful scenery was a treat! We then headed into Arches National Park to go hiking. We hiked to the Delicate Arch first. I was so excited to see the Delicate Arch in real life and no longer just on Utah license plates haha. It is beautiful! We hung out at the Delicate Arch and enjoyed the company and good conversation with a few of Kyston’s friends that were in Moab with us. While sitting there I almost lost my camera lens cap but Kyston was a champ, again, and climbed all the way down below the arch to go get it for me! After hiking Delicate Arch we headed over to the Fiery Furnace lookout point, ate lunch and hiked around the amphitheater. Our last stop was at Balanced Rock.
By the time we headed out of Arches National Park we were spent. The sun completely drains you and boy, was it hot! We debated on what to do next and knowing that our tent was cooking in the sun and the fact that we forgot hot dog buns and needed to head into the city anyways… we decided to just go home and pack up our tent before heading back to Provo. Good thing it was pretty quick clean up! We stopped in Moab to see walk around the city but headed back to Provo shortly after. When we finally got back to Provo we made hot dogs with J-Dawg sauce (gourmet camping intentions y’all) and I took a long deserved shower! I was sticky and smelled like sunscreen, bug spray and salt – I just couldn’t take it any longer!
This weekend was perfect. Moab – you are beautiful, Delicate Arch – you are rad, and Kyston – thank you and I love you. Let’s go back to Moab again soon, mmkay?
P.S. Kyston’s friend Josh gave Kyston and I the biggest compliment of all time – he told us we were the “hot, fit couple” in the group. We laughed about it but got a second kick out of it when we showed up in a white Jeep Wrangler with the top down blasting fun music. And to top it all off we had a “cool cooler” with rad stickers all over it. Funny thing is neither the Jeep or the cool cooler are ours! So thank you to Rik and Madie! You made us seem a lot cooler than we actually are haha
