FOURTH UP NORTH - ISLAND PARK & IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO
Idaho Falls is my favorite place to spend the 4th of July. Idaho Falls goes all out for the 4th and the Melalueca Freedom Festival is where it's at. Kyston and I headed north after my last day of work on Friday. We drove straight to Island Park where my cabin is at just outside of West Yellowstone National Park. While in Island Park we went canoeing, four-wheeling, made s'mores, went on beautiful summertime walks, hung out with my family, watched I Love Lucy (tradition), and played who knows how many games. Cabin life is the best life. There is no thing as time, no one cares what you look like and there always seems to be amazing food at the cabin - props to mama Arrington! I loved being able to show Kyston the family cabin. It's a little glimpse into my childhood and being able to share with him my favorite memories and make new ones was so much fun. We had a blast being there and really enjoyed our time. Monday morning we headed to Idaho Falls. We got Scottys for lunch and then headed to the Shamrock Park hill to go slip n' sliding with our friends. Madie had come up to Idaho Falls with a few friends from Provo so we had a large group. Slip n' sliding was a blast and everyone was getting mad speed. Following our fun day activity we hurried and got ready and then headed over to the riverbanks. We hung out along the river, walked around and saw the little booths and then met up with my family for dinner. Shortly after our picnic the fireworks started. Growing up I loved the Idaho Falls fireworks and was largely a part of the why the 4th of July is my favorite holiday. Never in a million years did I think I would be able to spend the 4th with the love of my life and watch the fireworks with him. It was a perfect weekend filled with lots of laughter and good times. The next day Kyston and I woke up early to meet my parents for breakfast at the one and only Smittys Pancake House. After breakfast we packed up our things and then headed over to my all time favorite restaurant the Snake Bite. The Snake Bite will forever hold a special place in my heart and it was so good to be back there eating a teriyaki pineapple grilled chicken sandwich. Kyston LOVED Snake Bite as well and totally understood my obsession with it. It is hands down the best place to eat in Idaho Falls - even Harrison Ford would agree (he always stops there to eat on his way to his home in Sun Valley, many Harrison Ford sitings happen at Snake Bite). The 4th of July weekend up north was perfect and I know there is no way I'd rather have spent that holiday! xx, m.
