COPENHAGEN, DENMARK - PART I
- commentary by Madie -
Saturday was a day well spent and honestly loved loved loved it. We started the day off heading over to the LDS temple here in Copenhagen to do some temple work. One thing I absolutely love about the LDS faith is that it is exactly the same no matter where you go in the world. Wherever I have traveled to - New Zealand, Germany, Switzerland, Fiji or even here Denmark - the feelings and spirit at the temple grounds is the same. I love it and I feel so so blessed. Following our temple visit we walked back home (who knew we stayed only two blocks away?!) and prepped for our big day in Copenhagen! On our way to Tivoli we stopped by the famous Hans Christian Andersen statue and went full on tourist mode taking photos and videos with our bright pink selfie stick (whose idea was it to choose pink again?) . The rest of Saturday was spent at Tivoli and was the most magical day I have had. Not even kidding Tivoli had the spirit of Disneyland with the most perfect Scandinavian twist (3 scones, 4 hot cocoas, 2 pastries, 1 debated cotton candy, loads of fries... all between the two of us) . We weren't planning to spend our entire afternoon and night there but lets just say we stayed till it closed and were torn when they finally had to kick us out! Tivoli is a classic/vintage amusement park located right in the middle of Copenhagen. And this weekend was Tivoli's opening weekend for their big Christmas celebration! Everything was decked out in Christmas decor - the lights, the snow, the ornaments - it was all perfect. It truly brought in the Christmas spirit and Scandinavians sure know how to do Christmas well. (WE MET SANTA - they call him The Christmas Man, but whatever they call him he told us we were going to Hawaii for Christmas!) Madie, my parents and I spent some time at the shops along the way and ate delicious aebleskivers (legit unreal pastry treat things), amazing hot cocoa and walked around the park. We were able to see the iconic ferris wheel. Plus Madie and I rode a few of the rides together. (80 meters high, up in the sky, swinging..... wait Kyla, how high is 80 meters again.... really high right?) I really don't know how to describe Tivoli other than it was more perfect than One Direction's new song Perfect - which is literally perfect. (no no, more like Justin Bieber's christmas album made a baby with Michael Bublé's christmas album. I don't know how to describe that but that is Tivoli - indescribable) So ya, there ya have it. xx, m.
