Okay, okay my eyes look somewhat closed in this photo but they aren't. I can assure you they aren't! I am just trying to do that cool "downward cast" model look. Plus, who doesn't love an adorable photo with a bunch of strangers? This photo way too cute of everyone else to not throw up here! We covered three cities in two days, these past 48 hours have been a whirlwind! We left Austria early in the morning to head back to Germany. Our first stop was at the Dachau Concentration Camp. I have been looking forward to visiting Dachau because I knew it would be such an interesting and learning experience. Our tour guide was German and gave great insight to the events that occurred at the concentration camp. It was a very emotional visit and opened my eyes to what happened during World War II. My grandfathers served during World War II, one a Marine and the other as a Navy Seabee. It is always interesting to reflect back on history and see how much humanity has grown and been shaped by its past. After visiting Dachau we had a business visit at the BMW Plant in Munich. I am not a big car person; however, I did enjoy looking at the old cars made over the years as well as the Roles Royce limited edition collection. Talk about embracing my inner princess! To all you car enthusiasts - yes, the BMW plant was way sick and yes, you probably would have appreciated it more than I did. Sorry!? That night we slept in Munich in the sketchiest part of the city. Legitimately it was the first time I have been sincerely scared for my life on this trip. I saw some pretty interesting things on the streets of Munich but lets not go into description. We woke early the next morning to head to Garmisch to see the Neuschwanstein Castle. This castle is the castle that Walt Disney modeled the Cinderella castle after. It was a definite hike to the castle but the castle itself was gorgeous! The last 42 hours has been packed with traveling, a venue analysis and business visits. It has been fun but the tiredness is starting to kick in. Good thing we are staying at the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort in Garmisch. This resort is particularly neat as it is owned by the U.S. Department of Defense. Basically that means everyone here is American, speaks English and uses the American dollar. This resort is like a little slice of American pie in the middle of Germany! Random side story, a group of us went running tonight in Garmisch. We ended up spending a good 30-45 minutes running past a highly-sensitive speed radar to see how fast we could run. Think of that one scene from The Rookie when Dennis Quad throws the baseball to see how fast he can pitch. Yup, that is exactly what we did. My record high was 23 mph. I'm not sure if thats impressive or not but hey i'll take it! xx, m.
