OUR RED ROCK BRIDAL PHOTOS

OUR RED ROCK BRIDAL PHOTOS

Ahhhh BRIDALS!!! I have always DREAMED of red rock bridals! There is something so magical about the red rock against a white dress that just kills me every stinking time! I didn't know at first if we would be able to find a photographer that would be so willing to go south to take photos! Guys, Eden Strader is SERIOUSLY THE BEST! She was so willing and excited to go south for bridals! We picked to go to Dead Horse Point State Park because the scenery is insane. We all met up at Walmart and then carpooled down together to save on gas. It was so fun just chatting on the drive and getting to know Eden and her assistant photographer, Zandra, more. Once we got to Dead Horse State Park, Eden scouted out the perfect spot for us to shoot. It was incredibly windy and shockingly cold. It looked like it was nice weather outside, but we were freezing! I had to keep putting on a jacket in-between photos in an attempt to stay somewhat warm haha. However, our bridal photos turned out STRAIGHT FIRE. Honestly, after our engagement photos, I didn't know how it would ever be possible to love any other set of photos more - and then boom our bridals happened. Every photo is hands down a bridal dream come true! So, fun story about my dress! I used to compete in pageants through the Miss America and Miss Collegiate system. At one point I held the title of Miss Utah in the Collegiate line and went to the national competition in Orlando, Florida. Before heading down to nationals, I was able to meet up with designer Sherri Hill to customize and design my own, original Sherri Hill gown! As I was designing it, I naturally wanted an ivory gown with intricate beading and raw silk. During the process, my mom suggested we revamp the gown later to be my wedding dress. Honestly, I had no opposition to this because the gown was 100% my dream dress and I knew I would never have a gown more incredible and stunning. A lot of work needed to be done in order to make the gown LDS temple appropriate. We had to fill in the giant keyhole in the back and raise the once plunging v-neck. However, Shandra Pfeiffer (my forever go-to seamstress) did INCREDIBLE work. She filled in the beaded parts by hand. Literally, hours spent sewing on one bead at a time. Shandra is insanely talented and the reason my dress is the stunning piece of work that it is! I loved being able to revamp my dress. That dress means so much to me! As far as my veil, I whipped out my old pageant skills and bedazzled that thing myself. All of the veils with beading were $500+ and I just did not want to allocate that much money to a veil. Especially since I knew I wouldn't wear the veil the entire time at the reception. I ended up purchasing a cheap veil and did the beading myself! It turned out beautiful and matched the dress perfectly. For my shoes, I was and am planning on wearing my old pageant competition shoes. But with how rocky Dead Horse Point was I did my entire bridal session barefoot. I love the natural and carefree effect this had!

During our bridals, Kyston and I did our first look together. I had told Kyston earlier that my dress wasn’t your typical wedding dress. He knew the back story about it but had never seen photos. Our first look was everything I could have ever imagined. Kyston was floored when he saw me in my dress and veil. He just got the biggest smile I’ve ever seen, the happiest twinkle in his eye and just pulled me in close. He just kept kissing me and telling me how truly beautiful I looked! I love Kyston so much and am so happy to be HIS bride! Our first look was a really special moment for us. Its when it really hits you that you are getting married, and for us it was such a magical feeling and experience. I am so grateful Eden was there to capture this.

As far as my flowers, I incorporated a lot of tropical flowers! One of my very best friends, Rachael Affleck, did my flowers. She is the owner of Rachael Ellen Events and knows how to make wedding magic happen. With Kyston’s Maori heritage, it was so important to me that his heritage showed in our wedding. I made sure to add Maori flair and touches throughout all wedding details - the tropical flowers being one of those ways. I am OBSESSED with my bridal bouquet. Rachael totally achieve the perfect combination of refined boho! Oh and Kyston’s suit? Surprise it is from EXPRESS! Guys, they have some killer suits for sure. Word to my engaged couples, don’t overlook their suits as an option! Kyston loves his suit and it is a perfect fit for him! xx, m.
