This weekend deserves every heart eye emoji in the world! Kyston is down in Phoenix, Arizona for 8 weeks selling pest control. When he left we decided I would fly out half way through to visit him. My sister and her family also live in Phoenix so it was a good chance to not only visit him, but spend time with my family. I'd been looking forward to this weekend since the day I booked my tickets and sadly it came too slow and went by too fast! I flew in Thursday night after work. Kyston picked me up from the airport and greeted me with hugs and kisses. From there we jetted off to my nephew's championship baseball game. He had an awesome game and is quite the little athlete! All together we grabbed dinner at Mod Pizza and then headed back to my sister's house to get settled in. Kyston had to work on Friday so I spent the day with my family. I played with my nieces, went to my nephew's school presentation and ran a few errands with my sister. When Kyston got off work we headed to South Mountain Park south of Phoenix and Tempe. All the locals recommended the lookout point as a must-see; so Kyston and I packed up two camping chairs, a few snacks and headed up the mountain to watch the sunset. I loved being up there with him. It gave us a moment to look over the valley and have a chance to catch up just the two of us. When the sun finally set we headed into downtown Tempe to eat at Culinary Dropout. For any of you traveling to Phoenix in the near future you HAVE to stop by Culinary Dropout. The food is phenomenal and the atmosphere chill and rad. While driving there I called ahead to make a reservation. When I found out they didn't take call aheads and would be at least an hour wait, I wasn't too stoked. But my sister raved about this place so we decided to go anyways. I am so glad we did! Culinary Dropout had a great band playing, ping-pong tables, bag toss games and a drink bar to help pass the time. Kyston and I had fun listening to the live music and playing ping-pong while we waited for our table. After eating the most delicious nachos I have ever had (still dreaming of that guac!), we stopped by his apartment to catch up with his friends who are also selling for the summer. From there we headed back to my sister's and finished the night watching a few episodes of Friends. Saturday morning started out at the local farmers market, laying out and then heading to the park to hit a few rounds in the batting cages. I am not good at any sport that involves some type of stick and ball! Out of my brother-in-law, nieces and nephews, and Kyston, I definitely had the fewest hits! On our way back Kyston and I stopped at Chili's for a molten lava cake. We love these and getting them together has become our little tradition (plus he beat me in a game of ping-pong the night before and a molten lava cake was the winning prize). After dessert we met up with my sister and brother-in-law for sushi at Kona Bar & Grill. Another phenomenal food recommendation for those in the Phoenix area. Following dinner the four of us headed to Top Golf. I know Top Golf's are starting to pop up throughout the country but as a quick explanation, it is practically an outdoor bowling range but for golfing (hopefully that makes sense)! Top Golf was an absolute blast! Again I struggle at any sport involving some type of stick and ball but lets just say I earned the "most improved player of the night" award. Sadly the weekend had to eventually come to a close. On Sunday we went to church with my family and then headed to the airport after. Now I've been home for less than five hours and already I'm wishing I could go back and be with everyone again! Looks like I'll have to make another trip out to Phoenix soon! xx, m. P.S. Shoutout to Brigitte and her family for being excellent hosts and treating me! I have the BEST family ever! P.S.S. Really if you are ever in Phoenix you have to stop by Culinary Dropout!
