PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO

Kyston and I booked our honeymoon to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico! We booked a week at the Marriott Resort! We had a blast being together! After our first night at the Grand America, we caught a flight from Salt Lake City to Puerto Vallarta. Upon arrival, we checked into our hotel and grabbed dinner at the resort. Monday, the next day, we reserved as a pure relaxation day. All we wanted to do the first day was lay by the beach, dip into the pool, order drinks (can’t ever get enough of virgin mojitos), and get some sun. Which is exactly what we did! It was so nice to relax together. That night we went out for a nice dinner at Mikado, a Japanese restaurant where we were able to get really good sushi! After dinner, we walked along the beach and watched the crazy beautiful sunset. The next morning we let ourselves sleep and layout in the sun again. That night we headed into downtown Puerto Vallarta. We wanted to see the city and local area. It was so fun to watch the sunset again as we walked up and down the Malecon boardwalk. We caught dinner at a beachside restaurant that night. On Wednesday we dedicated to venturing out to the nearby surfer town, Sayulita! You can read that blog post here. On Thursday, we spent the morning chilling and relaxing at the resort and then went on an Outdoor Adventure excursion we booked through Vallarta Adventures. We hoped on this boat that took us across the bay and into the jungle. From there we took the bumpiest jeep ride up the mountain and into the jungle. We went zip lining high above the jungle and then repelling and free falling by and into waterfalls! There were zip lines and bridges in the jungles and through the trees. It was so much fun! Kyston and I were the daredevil couple in the group, but we also felt pretty comfortable with everything since we both are avid rock climbers. After the zip lining was over they took us on that same bumpy jeep ride down the mountain. I’m not sure what was scarier, feeling like we were going to roll backward while driving up or the sound of the screeching breaks while the jeep tried to slow down going down the mountain! On the boat ride home, we ran into a huge pod of dolphins. The locals were saying that the dolphins protect the bay and keep it safe from sharks. The dolphins were so close to our boat and were jumping all over the place. It was such a fun added surprise to the excursion! That night, Kyston and I were exhausted. We ended up getting dinner at our resort at the beachside restaurant. The next day was Friday, our last day in Puerto Vallarta. We were able to secure a late checkout so we just took our time in the morning, sleeping in and getting ready. We headed to the airport and flew out later that afternoon. We absolutely loved our time in Puerto Vallarta. Everyone who had been there and knew me said I would love it, and I really did! Puerto Vallarta actually felt like Mexico. It isn’t as touristy as Cancun and Cabo is - something I really appreciate. I LOVED being Kyston’s bride, but being is wife is better than I imagined. I LOVE LOVE LOVE being Mrs. Manuirirangi! xx, m. P.S. Someone (we now know it was one of Kyston's groomsmen) sent us two bowls of whip cream to our room at the Grand America the first night. It was SO FUNNY! We died laughing and had fun with it! Haha!
