My travels, thoughts, memories, and love all in one place. Life documented as a twenty-something.

Reykjavik, Iceland

The Secret Life of Mikyla Arrington has officially started!

We have arrived in Iceland and it is unlike anything I have anticipated. I think I didn't even know really what to anticipate so I was ready to be surprised on all levels. The second we arrived in Iceland we went directly to the Blue Lagoon. The Blue Lagoon is a natural geothermal spring in Iceland that has been turned into a spa. All of us soaked in the water, did mud masks and had delicious blueberry smoothies.

The next day we had a business visit at Gateway to Iceland, an excursion company. We were able to participate in one of their guided adventures through an underground cave. It was crazy to explore and hike through an underground cave. Really who knew we would be having so many crazy adventures!?

Following our cave extravaganza, a few girls and I found a laundromat and did laundry. There is nothing that can compare to fresh laundry when you are traveling. It is a clean feeling unlike any other!

So let's talk about Iceland. Iceland is the number one upcoming tourist destination. I think the blockbuster movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty definitely contributes to its rising popularity. Like I stated earlier I had no idea what to expect from Iceland. All I knew was that I wanted to ride a longboard down some Icelandic hill.

But Iceland has been such a wonderful surprise. I really like it a lot more than I thought I would! The city of Reykjavik is probably best described as "rustic elegant". The streets are quaint and charming with boutiques full of beautiful handmade items. It is a mountain town, similar to a ski resort. Iceland is also pretty flat, very windy and has grey skies for days... so pretty much like Idaho weather.
